How to Have a Happy and Satisfied Career?

Happiness is subjective. The way you perceive or the things that make you happy may not have the same effect on another person. Same goes for satisfaction levels. Not all humans are the same. We have different levels on where we shower our most unique emotions. Many cry when they feel happy but this may not be the same for every other person.

Thus, the compilation of a definite guide on how to be happy maybe superficial. It all depends on how well you organize yourself, what you prioritize and the actions that you take towards happiness.

Building a successful career requires a lot of hard-work and sweat. Bagging your dream job asks for a lot of perseverance. Nothing can be achieved if you do not invest in it beforehand. Success can mean a number of things: money, title, power, etc. But with working professionals, it is mostly fitting into another person’s definition of success. And that leaves them frustrated. There should be personal goals for your career and life that you’d chase to be successful.

So what do you do in order to make your professional life both happy and rewarding?

Below are the 3 things you must follow:

1. Build Strong Boundaries

The single most important thing in life is to establish happy and healthy boundaries. People who do not have knowledge of what boundaries can help them achieve find themselves in the dark. These individuals become overly sensitive, defensive, worried about others’ opinions and highly skeptical when it comes to following their own heart or intuition. They actually end up inviting in negative people who take advantage of their weakness.

Boundaries act like the invisible barriers between you and your outer system. A good rigid boundary repels mean acts by others that might have had a huge impact if not for the boundary. The key is to find a balance – to be healthily engaged with others but solid and confident enough in your own skin.

2. Have a Healthy Relationship with Money

“If you’re running behind money, you can’t be happy in your work. It’s just that simple. Money can be viewed as just the possession of papers that satisfy your daily needs.”

The above thought is just a superficial statement. In reality, money is everything and people are running behind it. This is the main cause of frustrations in life. If you see money for what it is, and love your work, you’ll grow more.

As the noted scholar, Joseph Campbell shared, “Money is congealed energy and releasing it releases life possibilities. Money experienced as life energy is indeed a meditation, and letting it flow out instead of hoarding it is a mode of participation in the life of others.”

3. Focus on Cultivating Happiness

The secret to finding happiness is to find your ‘inner happiness’ – regardless of what goes on in your surroundings. The greater access to inner happiness, the greater your experience of success throughout your life.

This begins with finding new ways to access happiness in a continuous process of prioritizing yourself before anything else. Things that channelize your inner energy and impart to you the zeal to work towards more meaningful things in life will get you to the peaks you’d never imagined before.
